Season Planning conducted by the Mason Players and George Mason University’s School of Theater consists of two faculty and ten student members.

The structure of the season will be similar to past live structures, and the committee approached planning with the hope that we will be presenting live productions next season. Alternate plans will be in place for the fall in case we are still virtual.

Once the committee has made a list of recommendations, the list was brought before the full Theater Faculty for approval.

Fall 2021 will consist of:

The Mason Players Originals, in TheaterSpace, Sept 10-11. (If we must go virtual, the presentation date will occur later in the fall semester on Mason Arts at Home).

Mainstage 1, The Fall musical, A Concert Presentation of Footloose, directed by Erin Gardiner, in the Concert Hall, Oct 28-31. This will not be a co-production with the School of Music.

Studio production 1, Love’s Labors: Quarrels and Cravings, directed by Nicholas M. Kfoury Horner as his MFA Thesis Project. The show will be a collection of Shakespearean sonnets on the theme of love, in TheaterSpace, Nov 18-21.

Spring 2022 will consist of:

The Mason Cabaret, In A Sentimental Mood: The Music of Duke Ellington, in the Harris Theatre, Jan 28-29 with additional presentations at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

Studio Production 2, Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl, in TheaterSpace, Feb 24-27.

Mainstage 2, Everybody by Brenden Jacobs-Jenkins, in Harris Theatre, March 24 – April 3.

Studio Production 3, Just Like Us by Karen Zacarias, in TheaterSpace, Apr 20-24.

Musical Theater Ensemble, A Concert Presentation of The Boy Detective Fails, in the Concert Hall, Apr 29-30, venue to be confirmed.

1001 Plays, dates and times have yet to be determined for this presentation.

If desirable and allowed contractually, it may be possible to live-stream certain shows next season.
